The Heartlands Festival is an annual event organised by Heartland Enterprise Centre Singapore (HECS), bringing people together to celebrate the communities, businesses, and individuals who continue to keep Singapore’s heartland spirit alive. The festival recognises the unique role of the heartlands in preserving local culture, strengthening community bonds, and celebrating the everyday spaces that shape Singapore’s identity.
As part of the festival, our team went down to various locations across Singapore to connect with residents and engage the community through meaningful conversations and learning activities. It was a valuable opportunity for us to be present in the heartlands, meet people from different walks of life, and contribute to an event that celebrates community, culture, and connection.
As a training provider, we were eager to share the value of lifelong learning and how continuous upskilling can support both personal and professional growth. To give residents a glimpse of what they can expect from our courses, our experienced trainer, Daryl Kang, conducted sharing sessions on creating content for social media and the importance of cyber security in today’s digital age.
Through his sharing, attendees gained practical insights into digital skills that are increasingly relevant in everyday life and the modern workplace.
Beyond the sharing sessions, the festival allowed our team to engage directly with residents and better understand their learning interests, concerns, and aspirations. These interactions reinforced the importance of making learning accessible and relatable, especially within community spaces where individuals and families naturally gather.
Being the Prestige Sponsor of this year’s Heartlands Festival was a delight for FirstCom Academy. The festival concluded with an appreciation lunch on 2 February, which included a prize-giving ceremony and a speech by Mr Andy Hoon, Vice President of FMAS.
FirstCom Academy would like to thank Heartlands Festival and HECS for inviting us to be part of this meaningful event and for giving us the opportunity to share our passion for lifelong and continuous learning. We hope to bring the same energy and enthusiasm to future editions of the Heartlands Festival as we continue supporting Singaporeans in building practical skills, staying relevant, and embracing learning at every stage of life.
