“Upskilling is your passport to a greater future” was the theme of FirstCom Academy’s Digital Skills & Employability Fair, supported by SkillsFuture Singapore as part of SkillsFuture Festival 2023.
The fair provided a meaningful platform for us to engage members of the public on the importance of upskilling, while sharing how practical and relevant training can help individuals achieve tangible career outcomes.
Throughout the fair, attendees had the opportunity to learn more about digital tech skills, industry trends, and the growing importance of staying relevant in a fast-changing workforce.
Through interactive activities, expert sharing sessions, and conversations with our team, visitors were able to better understand how upskilling can support their career development and open doors to new opportunities.
A key highlight of the event was the appearance of celebrity producer Jack Neo at Waterway Point, where he joined us for the launch of FirstCom Academy’s newly introduced Creative Content Advertising Programme.
The programme was co-curated with the expertise of J Team Productions and specially co-created with Jack Neo and his team to nurture a new generation of creative talent. Designed to equip learners with practical skills in conceptualising and producing advertising content across digital platforms, the programme reflects the growing demand for creative capabilities in today’s digital economy.
During the event, Jack Neo shared an important message with attendees: never stop acquiring new skill sets in order to stay relevant and updated. His sharing reinforced the core message of the fair — that continuous learning is essential for individuals who want to adapt, grow, and remain competitive in an evolving employment landscape.
As part of the fair, attendees were invited to take part in a range of engaging activities designed to make learning more interactive and enjoyable.
Visitors could explore digital tech skills and industry insights, attend informative sharing sessions by industry experts, take part in quizzes, share their views through voting boards, redeem an “in-flight dessert” at the Ice Cream Booth, and participate in a simple quiz for a chance to spin the wheel and win prizes.
These activities created a lively and welcoming atmosphere, encouraging participants to discover more about upskilling in a fun, accessible, and interactive way.
FirstCom Academy was glad to be part of SkillsFuture Festival 2023 and to have the opportunity to connect with attendees through meaningful conversations on digital skills, employability, and lifelong learning. As we continue to support Singaporeans in building future-ready capabilities, we remain committed to making upskilling accessible, practical, and relevant for individuals at every stage of their learning and career journey.
