Learning Unit 1: Understanding Prompt Design Principles

  • Apply fundamental prompt design techniques to communicate with any AI tool to get accurate and relevant results.

  • Identify key elements of effective prompts to produce consistent and reliable outputs for work and daily tasks.

Hands-on Activity: Practise prompting frameworks through hands-on tasks such as planning a birthday party, writing meeting notes, and creating a travel itinerary.

Learning Unit 2: Ensuring Responsible AI Usage with Data Privacy and Safety Guardrails

  • Understand data privacy rules and apply basic anonymisation methods (eg. data masking and pseudonymisation).

  • Implement prompt guardrails to guide AI outputs and reduce inaccurate, biased, harmful, or irrelevant responses.

  • Identify and fix common AI issues such as hallucination, bias, misinterpretation of prompts, and outdated information.

Hands-on Activity: Detect and remove sensitive details from prompts to protect personal information when using AI.

Learning Unit 3: Elements and Techniques to Construct Effective Prompts

  • Apply techniques and best practices to construct effective prompts (e.g., zero-shot, one-shot, chain-of-thought and instruction-based prompting).

  • Identify common prompt mistakes (e.g., lack of context, vague instructions), risks, and best practices for designing effective prompts

  • Analyse real-world prompt examples to understand what works, what fails, and how to refine prompts for different goals.

  • Have basic computer literacy Level 2
  • Have minimum GCE “N”, “O” or “A” Level / NITEC or a diploma qualification and minimum 2 years of working experience; and
