FirstCom Academy was proud to participate as an Education Partner at the Jobstreet Career Fair 2024, held at Sands Expo & Convention Centre from 24 to 25 August 2024.
Designed to connect job seekers with employers across a wide range of industries, the fair brought together fresh graduates, experienced professionals, and individuals exploring new career opportunities in today’s evolving job market.
With growing sectors such as technology, finance, and healthcare continuing to transform, the event served as a valuable platform for attendees to discover career options, meet recruiters, and apply for roles on the spot.
As an Education Partner, FirstCom Academy’s role was to share how upskilling can help individuals strengthen their employability and achieve better career outcomes.
Throughout the event, our Education Consultants engaged attendees in meaningful conversations about their career goals, learning needs, and the practical skills that can help them stay competitive in the workforce. We also showcased our range of courses and highlighted how continuous learning can support individuals in building confidence, adapting to change, and meeting the evolving demands of employers.
Additionally, we collaborated with our trusted employment partner, AKG, to host a workshop focused on crafting professional resumes that leave a lasting impression on prospective employers. The session provided attendees with practical tips on how to present their experience, strengths, and skills more effectively, helping them improve their chances of securing interviews.
The workshop received a warm response, with many participants eager to learn how they could enhance their resumes and better position themselves for career opportunities.
A key highlight of the fair was an insightful panel discussion titled “Empowering Your Career in the AI Era,” where our CEO, Jim Giam, participated as a panellist alongside other industry representatives.
The discussion explored the growing influence of AI in today’s employment landscape and how technology is reshaping the skills needed across different industries.
As more companies adopt AI tools and digital solutions, understanding how AI works and how it can be applied in the workplace has become increasingly important for individuals who want to remain relevant and competitive.
During the discussion, Jim reinforced the importance of upskilling for individuals who are looking to transform their careers and unlock new opportunities. With a wide variety of courses available and government grants making training more accessible, individuals now have more opportunities to upgrade themselves and build in-demand skills that meet the needs of today’s organisations.
