FirstCom Academy was proud to support the first-year anniversary celebration of PaPaZao (趴趴走), held on 2 July 2023 at Sentosa Island.
Organised by renowned local filmmaker Jack Neo in collaboration with FirstCom Academy as the education partner, the event brought together 1,400 seniors and participants of all ages for a meaningful morning of walking, bonding, entertainment, and digital learning.
With the goal of promoting healthy living, lifelong learning, and community connection, PaPaZao’s first anniversary was a lively celebration that encouraged participants to stay active, embrace new experiences, and enjoy the company of friends and loved ones.
The highlight of the event was a 3.5km walk through some of Sentosa’s most iconic attractions.
Starting from Sentosa Boardwalk, participants made their way past landmarks such as Universal Studios Singapore, Madame Tussauds Singapore, Sentosa Nature Discovery, Imbiah Nature Trail, and Siloso Point, before ending at Sapphire Pavilion.
With pleasant weather and the morning sun setting the mood, participants enjoyed the scenic route at a comfortable pace. Smiles, laughter, and cheerful conversations filled the walk as everyone soaked in the sights and energy of Sentosa.
The PaPaZao celebration was not only about keeping the body active, but also about keeping the mind engaged. As part of the event, participants took part in the Creative Contest Challenge, which encouraged them to capture the beauty of Sentosa and the spirit of PaPaZao through their smartphones.
From photo-taking to vlogging and TikTok challenges, participants had the opportunity to put their creativity and digital skills into practice in a fun and encouraging environment.
It was heartwarming to see many seniors confidently taking photos, recording videos, sharing their thoughts on camera, and even recreating the PaPaZao TikTok trend by Jack Neo. The challenge showed that digital learning can be enjoyable, accessible, and meaningful at any age.
Participants who completed the 3.5km walk were eligible for the finisher lucky draw, which featured exciting prizes worth over $10,000.
Fifty lucky winners walked away with attractive rewards, including a Genting Dream 3-night cruise, Prism+ 65-inch television, Apple iPhone 14 Pro, Dyson V8 Slim Fluffy, Happy Call Pot and Pan set, and many more prizes.
The celebration continued with a post-walk entertainment programme featuring local celebrities and artistes, including Henry Thia, Ben Logan, and Terence Cao. Their performances added even more energy to the event, giving participants a chance to sing along, take photos, and enjoy a festive atmosphere together.
PaPaZao is more than a walking event. It is a community initiative that brings people together through movement, friendship, and shared experiences.
The first anniversary celebration was a meaningful reminder that staying active does not have to be difficult or intimidating. Through a simple walk, participants were able to exercise, connect with others, explore new places, and create joyful memories with friends and family.
For many seniors, the event also offered a refreshing opportunity to step out, socialise, and be part of a supportive community that celebrates health and positivity.
FirstCom Academy was glad to be part of an event that combined healthy living with lifelong learning.
Through the Creative Contest Challenge, participants were encouraged to explore digital skills such as smartphone photography, video recording, content creation, and social media engagement. These activities reflected an important message: it is never too late to learn something new.
As the saying goes, “活到老,学到老” — we are never too old to keep learning.
